2,000 Flybuys points on Coles Mastercard Gift Cards

For one week, collect 2000 bonus Flybuys points on $100 and $250 Coles Mastercard Gift Cards! You’ll earn the same fixed number of points regardless of which denomination you choose.
Important: You can earn up to 10,000 Flybuys Points (equivalent to 5,000 Velocity Points) per account over this week. That’s equivalent to any combination of five $100/$250 gift cards under this offer. Note that a card fee of $5 (for the $100 card) or $7 (for the $250 card) applies. The cheapest way to earn the 10,000 points is to pay $25 in fees.
These prepaid Mastercards can be used almost anywhere Mastercard is accepted. However, they are no longer accepted at the ATO and some vendors may also not allow prepaid cards to be used.
There have been reports of people trying to hack these cards, so our advice is to check for signs of tampering and use them as soon as possible (i.e. to prepay bills).

Because this week’s offer is a fixed bonus rather than 20x bonus, the following examples aren’t applicable but we keep them for reference for future and past offers.
Example: points earned with a 20x bonus:
For offers with a 20x bonus points component, here are some examples of the points you can earn (subject to the weekly limits):
- $50 gift card: 1,000 Flybuys Points (worth $5 or 500 Velocity Points).
- $100 gift card: 2,000 Flybuys Points (worth $10 or 1,000 Velocity Points).
- $200 gift card: 4,000 Flybuys Points (worth $20 or 2,000 Velocity Points).
- $500 gift card: 10,000 Flybuys Points (worth $50 or 5,000 Velocity Points).
Example: what you can do with a 20x bonus:
If you purchased $2,000 worth of gift cards to help cover the price of your next purchase, you’d also earn 40,000 Flybuys points. That’s easily worth $200 at the checkout, or 20,000 Velocity Points – more than enough for a free domestic Economy or Business Class reward seat on certain routes (plus taxes).
- Perth-Sydney one-way in Economy (17,800 pts + taxes).
- Brisbane-Darwin one-way in Economy (17,800 pts + taxes).
- Adelaide-Melbourne one-way in Business (15,500 pts + taxes).
- Hobart-Melbourne one-way in Economy and return in Business (23,300 pts + taxes).
The cheapest Virgin Australia reward flight is 7,800 points + taxes (converted from 15,600 Flybuys points). You’ll need to buy at least $780 of gift cards to have enough Velocity Points for a reward flight if starting from a zero balance.

One of Flybuys’ most popular offers runs a few times a year. Earn 10,000 bonus Flybuys points when you meet a targeted minimum spend over four weeks. Check your Flybuys app regularly to see when the offer is live. The information is general and will help you plan your next challenge.
Essentially, you’ll be given a target amount to spend at Coles for four weeks in a row. Reach this target and you will earn 10,000 bonus Flybuys points or $50 off your next Coles shop. The target amount usually ranges from $40 to $120 a week, depending on how much you’ve spent previously.
Our hot tip? Always choose the bonus points! They’re way more flexible. You can convert these bonus points to 5,000 Velocity Points, or use them to get $50 off Coles shopping down the track if you decide to.
Some members are also being offered an additional 1,000 points for each transaction they complete online, for an extra 4,000 points over the four-week period.

Optus offers bonus Flybuys points on many plans covering phones, handsets, home broadband and mobile broadband. The offers available may change without notice and be targeted at specific members.

You’d have to buy the cards over more than one sale, of course, but the added benefit is that if you want you can “mix and match” points, so you could buy some gift cards from Woolies (Qantas points) and some from Coles (Velocity points). I’ve also found that if you do the purchase via Velocity’s e-store, you’ll still receive the bonus points from the e-store as well.
Last week one staff member in a certain Coles store went mental when I attempted to buy just $250 worth of Ultimate gift cards (5 cards to max out the promo of 2,000 Flybuys / 1,000 Velocity points per $50 card). Whereas my wife went through the same process in a different store and nobody was concerned at all.
Only saying…be ready to sweet talk…or visit several stores!
Incidentally Everyday Rewards is offering bonuses on a strategy of bonus points on certain items you have a history of buying in Woolworths.
By harvesting these Coles offers as a household team of two (in our case) we are amassing significant numbers of FlyBuys which we divert to Virgin (easily 10,000 to 20,000 Velocity point per month) on our regular grocery shop alone.

We are aware that Coles bonus offers are dynamic and can be targeted. Indeed, one of her previous articles explains ways to reduce the spending threshold, including using different member cards as you suggest.
In this guide you’re commenting on, we regularly update it with new offers. The 10,000/4 week challenge does recur periodically for everyone, hence why we keep it here. As you correctly say, it also sometimes appears targeted to individuals. But this page covers the offer when it’s available to everyone 🙂

It took only a few years to earn 500000 points, and last 2 years to earn but not quite reached 600000.
The once generous earning opportunities have and are continuously dwindling.
It is still the easiest and best value for money. Loyalty cards available to earn and when I find that one item, the current Point/$$ value will be well worth it, and FREE.
Now all Flybuys need to do is revert back to the last Webpage system, as this current version is absolute rubbish.
